This story on the recent UFO reports in Texas reminded me of one of my favorite films, the original Invaders from Mars. Directed by William Cameron Menzies (the famous artistic director who also directed the fantastic Things to Come), the B-movie classic has been called the definitive Cold War paranoia film. I saw it several times as a kid, but only on television - and only in B & W. Maybe the result of the goings-on that much more disturbing.
I will never forget how I was terrified every time someone would be sucked into the sand and bizarre in the underground lair of the invaders. You can listen to the other strange chorus of voices that have accompanied this frightening moment in the clip above. Someone should sample. (Maybe they have?)

Anyway, the history of recent UFO sightings Texas sounds like a transcript of a film 50 years B-flick! The party on fighter aircraft continuation of the spacecraft is simply too good to be true! (Why is it that these things do not come to Joshua Tree where we are here? Seems like an ideal place for them ... except for the Marine Base is nearby. And then, chances are it military or certain vessels - Alien recreated from technology Roswell slaughtered?)

Dozens of people - including a pilot county constable and business owners insist they saw a large object with lights silent flying low and fast. Some have reported seeing fighters behind.
"People are wondering what in the world because this is the Bible Belt, and everybody is afraid, it's the end of time," said Steve Allen, a freight company The pilot and owner of the object who said he saw last week was a mile long and a half mile wide. "It was positive, absolutely nothing of these parts."
While federal officials insist there is a logical explanation, residents swear it was larger, quieter, faster and lower to the ground than in an airplane. They also said the lights changed the configuration, unlike those of an airplane. People in several cities who have reported seeing it over several weeks have offered similar descriptions of the object.
Machinist Ricky Sorrells said friends laughed at him when he told them he saw a flat, metal object hovering about 300 feet above the Dublin pasture behind his house. But he decided to attend after reading similar accounts in the Stephenville Empire-Tribune.
"You hear about big bass or big buck in the region, but this is another matter," says Sorrells. "It feels good to hear that other people have seen something, because it means that I am not crazy."
Sorrells said he saw the subject on several occasions. He said he looked through his rifle telescopic lens and described it as very important and seamless, the nuts or bolts.
Maj. Karl Lewis, a spokesman for the 301st Fighter Wing at the Joint Reserve Base Naval Air Station in Fort Worth, said no F-16s or other aircraft from the base were in the area the night of January 8, when most people reported observation.
Lewis said the object may have been an illusion caused by two commercial airplanes. The lights of the aircraft seemed unusually bright and may appear orange sun.
"I am confident that the 90 per cent was an airliner," says Lewis. "With the angle of the sun, it can play tricks on you."
Officials in the region, two Air Force bases in Abilene Dyess and Sheppard in Wichita Falls-also said that none of their aircraft were in the region last week. The Air Force is no longer investigates UFOs.
